Assembly and Care
The Weyer stainless steel sill guard is designed so that you can install it on your vehicle yourself at home. It consists of high-quality rust-proof 0.5mm stainless steel [austenitic chrome-nickel steel] with high corrosion resistance. All stainless steel sill guards are easy to install using double-sided 3M or Tesa adhesive tape, depending on the type of bumper [plastic coating or painted]. The double-sided adhesive tape is attached to the back of the sill guard for installation. You can see the exact procedure in the assembly video and in the enclosed assembly instructions.
Caring for your Dacia stainless steel sill guard:
If stainless steel is used in the outdoor environment, it should also be maintained once a month to avoid the formation of flash rust. Even stainless steel that comes into contact with rust particles or other rusting material—such as wind or spray water containing rust steel—can lead to so-called "surface pitting" if left unmaintained. The transfer of rusty particles through the air is referred to as flash rust. This can be recognized by reddish-brown deposits. In any case, flash rust should be removed as quickly as possible to prevent major damage to the material. The effect of rust deposits can be caused by environmental influences such as: exhaust gases, brake dust, smog, salt in winter, or, in commercial use, by work such as welding, grinding, etc., carried out near a car.
Here are a few tips for cleaning and caring for the sill guard
Removing flash rust in an environmentally friendly way
Care is very simple: rub the stainless steel sill guard with lukewarm or hot water and a soft microfiber cloth, and then use a dry microfiber cloth for drying/polishing. You can make the sill guard shine with a product found in every household: you will need a glass cleaner [chloride-free] and again a soft microfiber cloth.
Rust spots on the surface can be fought very easily with a simple household remedy: lemon juice. For this, some juice or concentrate should be applied to the affected areas. In some cases, it may be necessary to rub entire parts or objects. The lemon juice should then be left to act briefly and can then be wiped off with a dry cloth and lightly polished.
In the case of very light rust, the stainless steel will shine in full glory again after polishing. Furthermore, Cola has proven very effective in the fight against light flash rust, as this drink contains phosphoric acid which attacks the deposit. These then dissolve with the treatment. You can apply the Cola to the affected area just like the lemon juice. In addition, there are a wide variety of care products and flash rust removers available in stores for cleaning.
